Ladies and Gentlemen:
With the volatility of the market during the past several weeks, the TV and
print media have frequently discussed it's ups and downs, primarily due to
no other news to report. We are still holding some cash in various accounts
as the statistics and analysis suggest even more an overvalued market. We
would still like to hold a little longer to take advantage of some lower
prices.
Some have asked about our new web site. We're happy to announce that it
should be up and complete by the time you receive this correspondence. The
web site address is www.cimky.com as of now. If it is not online, it should
be only a matter of days. We will be testing it and tweaking various parts
so if it is occasionally unavailable, it would only be down for minor
maintenance. There will be a link at the top menu bar for you to access
your account at any time. If you have difficulty doing so, please do not
hesitate to call Karen at 270-259-0769.
This past winter, some of you had asked about the annual reception that we
did not have this past fall. We had provided this gathering of all the
clients of CIM for the past nine or ten years. The purpose of the
reception was basically twofold. First, to thank you in person for allowing
me the opportunity to manage your accounts. Secondly, I've always felt so
strongly about how we do what we do that I was willing to stand before you
anytime and answer any questions that you may have and provide you with any
current information that I thought would be helpful and informative.
However, during the past year or so, I became concerned that we had provided
so much information over the years that we were becoming redundant in what
we had to say. I would never want what we had to say to be boring or
useless because it was presented in some way before. I suppose I'm
terribly sensitive to the last one as listening to useless information is a
pet peeve of mine.
Consequently, we chose to skip a year and see how this would work. We've
spoken with our Advisory Board about this and they suggested what we thought
was a good idea. We will probably continue with our reception, but focus
more on new clients attending. Of course, all of you would be welcomed to
come, but we will focus on providing information to new clients or anyone
that might want to hear or discuss issues that come up. I'm sure I will
have some new information each year, but I won't risk being too repetitive
for everyone each year.
Now let's talk about "phishing." "Phishing" is a new term in our internet
age that refers to someone somewhere attempting to obtain your information
by sending you an email asking you to "update" your information. We are
aware that in other parts of the country, individuals have been sent emails
from what appears to be TD Ameritrade asking the recipient to "update their
information" by providing their password, account information, etc. The
sender doesn't know who has accounts with TD Ameritrade and who doesn't, so
they just send out thousands hoping one or two will be careless enough to
respond. If they do, then they have just given away their account
information.
Please always remember.no one will ever ask you for a password or ask you to
update your account information through an email. This is really no
different that the same scheme used by telephone years ago. Now, it's just
through email. Karen and I are the only people that should be discussing
your account with you. As an example, I receive an email about once a month
asking me to update my information with US Bank. It looks like a good
email. It has the bank's logo and type and symbols. The problem is. I
don't have an account with US Bank. The more obvious ones that I receive weekly
are usually concerning a bank in Africa that wants to share $152,000,000
with me if I'll just respond to their email.
I want to thank so many of you again who have referred your family and
friends to us. Nothing compliments us more and we're proud to care for
them. We're continuing to meet with our Advisory Board and they are giving
us great suggestions and feedback on what we are doing.
Thank you again for allowing us to care for your accounts. Please don't hesitate to call us
if you need anything.
Respectfully yours,
Brad Travis
